NatureHelm is an innovative biodiversity data intelligence platform for
corporations, financial institutions and their global value chains. We help
businesses both large and small to address increasing regulatory and stakeholder
demands in relation to biodiversity risks and opportunities, and contribute to
driving positive and meaningful change on the ground for biodiversity at scale.
This includes helping businesses to embed sustainable practices into their
everyday business activities to enhance and protect biodiversity, and address the
goals of the Global Biodiversity Framework. It also enables businesses to meet
the increasing regulatory requirements of emerging biodiversity and nature-
based legislation and frameworks. This includes the Corporate Sustainability
Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial
Disclosures (TNFD) which are at the forefront of the emerging biodiversity
accountability market.
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer to join our
team who is passionate about environmental conservation and has an eye for
frontend design and UX to join our team who will play a vital role in building and
advancing NatureHelmʼs platform and driving its success globally.
Responsibilities: Work closely with our leadership and cross functional team to create
product and data strategies that drive successful development of our
innovative data platform;
Work closely with data scientists, designers, and other engineers to
translate complex data into clear, actionable visualisations;
Develop interactive, visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces with
emphasis on clarity and accessibility;
Develop interactive maps and other (geospatial) data visualisations that
provide insightful biodiversity information to users;
Design and develop the frontend and backend components of the
biodiversity data platform, ensuring seamless integration and optimal
performance;
Promote and implement engineering best practices to enhance code
quality, optimise development processes, and ensure adherence to
industry standards;
Collaborate with the team to continuously enhance and improve the
platform's functionality based on user feedback and evolving
requirements;
Keep up to date with the latest advancements in UI design, geospatial
technologies, and data visualisation tools, integrating innovative solutions
into ongoing projects.
About you (requirements):
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software
Engineering, or a related field;
5+ yearsʼ experience in full-stack development, with expertise in frontend
and backend technologies;
Proficiency in the development of RESTful APIs;
Strong programming skills particularly in JavaScript/TypeScript and
Python as well as HTML and CSS;
Extensive experience with React.js and Node.js;
Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, database design, and
query optimization;
Knowledge of geospatial technologies and tools, such as mapping
libraries (e.g., Deck.gl), geospatial databases (eg. PostGIS), and
geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, Shapefile);
Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes);
Familiarity with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), in
particular: ECS, Lambda and other serverless services;
Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD and agile
development methodologies;
Ability to work collaboratively and adaptively in a multidisciplinary
environment with a small dedicated team;
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
